FISHING Contemporary Scottish Art Inspired by Fishing Communities and the Sea.

Ranging from figurative to abstract and semi-sculptural works, the Fishing collection draws inspiration from the Scottish fishing communities and the oceans that surround them.

The works bring together painting, sculpture and mixed media, incorporating discarded and repurposed objects, rope, nets and other found materials. These layered elements create artworks that explore personal and shared memory, time, place and the changing relationship between people and the sea.

Some pieces are deliberately interactive, allowing ropes and nets to be moved and rearranged, creating new images and stories for the viewer.

The work carries echoes of Japanese wood carving, religious fables, tapestries and Pictish stone carvings, as well as the artist's inner world, while remaining rooted in contemporary Scottish life.
