One to One Art Classes – Teens & Adults

Service Description

Sometimes the best way to learn is to have the time and attention to work at your own pace. These one-to-one art classes offer personalised tuition tailored to your interests, experience and creative goals. Whether you are completely new to art, returning to it after many years, or already have experience and want to develop a particular skill, each session can be shaped around what you would like to learn. My teaching draws on my experience as an artist and teacher and can encompass a wide range of approaches, including drawing, painting, portraiture, figure work, classical techniques, observational drawing, realism, colour and composition. You might want to learn how to draw accurately, explore classical drawing and painting techniques, develop your understanding of portraiture, work towards a particular painting, experiment with different materials, or simply have dedicated time and guidance to develop your own artistic practice. For those interested in classical realism, I can introduce traditional academic approaches to drawing and painting, including observation, proportion, anatomy, tonal modelling, light and shadow and chiaroscuro. For those who simply want to learn to draw or paint without following a particular tradition, the teaching can be adapted to your interests and level of experience. The sessions are deliberately flexible. There is no requirement to arrive with a particular skill level or a fully formed idea of what you want to achieve. We can establish a direction together and develop it over time. One-to-one tuition can be particularly useful for people who prefer a quiet, focused environment, want to work on something specific, or would benefit from having individual guidance rather than learning within a group. Sessions take place at my studio in Aboyne, Deeside, Aberdeenshire, within easy reach of Aberdeen. No previous artistic experience is necessary.
