Contemporary Art by Stephanïe Vandëm
Stephanïe Vandëm is an internationally recognised, award-winning contemporary artist, born in Brazil and based in Scotland. Working between painting and sculpture, she combines traditional oil painting with mixed media and semi-sculptural elements to create unique works for private collectors, interiors and public spaces.
At the centre of her practice is the physicality of being human: how we work, move, compete, care, survive and connect through our bodies. Her work returns to forms of physical experience that are increasingly disappearing from everyday life, while exploring the quiet inner worlds that exist beneath outward action.
Across Fishing, Lifting, Family Album, The Last Supper and her portraits, bodies work, compete, gather, hold, care and wait. Gesture and physical presence become ways of communicating what cannot always be expressed in words.
Each work is unique, bringing together painterly tradition, physical materials and sculptural elements to create contemporary works with a strong sense of presence.
